HAVING known each other all their lives, Pamela Linehan and Patrick O’Sullivan were married.
Pamela, from Hollyhill, and Patrick, from Churchfield, now live in Bweeng.
The bride said: “We both know each other all our lives as my grandmother’s house is only across the road from where Patrick grew up and lived. I always knew Patrick, but it wasn’t until later on in the years that we actually started talking to each other as Patrick is six years older than me.
He texted me on Facebook one day back in 2015 to see how I was and did I want to go out for a spin and we’re together since.
“We had many ups and many downs, like every other couple, but we stuck by one another and got through it all.
“I always remember the first time Patrick was meeting my family, he had a gold Honda Civic. He was so nervous about meeting my family, he drove straight through a lamp-post outside my mother’s house, all we could do is laugh. We still laugh about it to this day.”
The couple are together eight years since November 25. The bride said: “In the years that we are together, it has been the best eight years of my life.”
They got engaged on a beautiful sunny day on May 30, 2021, on Garryvoe beach.
They were married in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island, on July 28, 2023, in a civil ceremony, followed by reception.
The bride’s dress and bridesmaid dresses were from the Moderne Bridal. Patrick’s and the groomsmen’s suits were from Morleys. The bride’s hair and make-up was by Nichola Kiely and Lauren Kiely from Nic’s Pin Ups.
Special guests included Pamela’s mother Rosie, sister Nicola, brother Kevin, two nephews Leo and Isaac, niece Ria, and Aunt Ka, “our family rock”. Patrick’s mother and father Mary and Joe were also there.
“Most importantly, my grandfather Denis was the biggest part of my day. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer three years ago with a life expectancy of 12 months with treatment.
I never thought I’d see the day that he would walk me down the aisle but he promised me he would and he did.
“He gave it his all and was there to walk his granddaughter down the aisle on the day of her wedding. He passed away three weeks later,” the bride said.
“The most special thing about the ceremony was that my grandfather was there with me and had the strength to walk me down the aisle.
“We are so grateful that all my family, Patrick’s family and all our friends could join us to celebrate our wedding day.”
