National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) is marking its 20th anniversary this year, with a special event taking place in Cork next month to mark the occasion.

NWED aims to shine the spotlight on female entrepreneurship and opens the prospect of entrepreneurship to women who may not have considered it before, highlighting the supports available.

To this end, Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Cork and Kerry will host a day-long event on Thursday, October 16 at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa, Little Island, designed and led by women to promote and encourage female entrepreneurship.

This year’s theme, ‘Making It Happen’, encourages participants to challenge norms, embrace innovation, and harness collective strength to redefine the future of entrepreneurship.

A number of noted speakers will address attendees including Noella Gabriel, co-founder of Elemis.

It also aims to provide valuable networking opportunities.

The events will outline the key supports that are available from financial and consultancy to training and mentoring to help them along the way from starting out right through to bringing a business to global markets.

Mary Linehan Foley, Mayor of the County of Cork encouraged women to consider attending the event. “National Women’s Enterprise Day is a significant event in our calendar each year. A celebration of female entrepreneurs and businesswomen, the event informs and inspires women at all stages of the business development journey. There is a great line-up of speakers and inspirational businesswomen for next month’s event which will also provide an opportunity to network and discover what supports are available for entrepreneurs in the region,” she said.
