What the papers say: Wednesday's front pages
The Irish Independent reports that more than four in 10 women who gave birth last year had a caesarean section, the highest on record. It als reports that the hosepipe ban may be extended, as Met Éireann warns temperatures will climb back to 29 degrees this week.
The Echo leads on a plea from a victim's mother for more gardaí on Cork streets. It comes as data shows the number of gardaí at the city's Blackrock station is under half what it was 15 years ago.
Along with a photo of some of this year's Rose of Tralee contestants, The Irish Examiner reports that energy arrears have hit a record high: 328,000 households are in arrears for electricity, and 189,000 are in arrears for gas bills.
