68 per cent of voters blame Taoiseach Micheál Martin for Fianna Fáil's botched presidential campaign - but his personal popularity has recovered since last month.

A Sunday Independent/Ireland Thinks poll published on Sunday shows that just 14 per cent blame Jim Gavin for the fiasco, and only 5 per cent blame the party's deputy leader, Jack Chambers.

The poll comes ahead of the publication of an interval review into Fianna Fáil's handling of the campaign, which is now unlikely to be published before the new year, the Irish Times reported.

The review was initially set to be published by November 12th, but the date has been pushed back several times.

Cónal Thomas, Political Correspondent with the Sunday Independent, spoke on Newstalk about the findings.

"Simon Harris' personal popularity stays at about 34 per cent, which was a record low last month since he took over from Leo Varadkar.

"Interestingly, Micheál Martin's popularity has gone back up to about 36 per cent from 33 per cent last month - albeit from a very, very high drop of 10 points last month."
