The latest figures from the Irish Midwives and Nurses Organisation (INMO) show there is 429 people waiting for beds in hospitals across the country.

312 patients are waiting in the emergency department, while 117 are in wards elsewhere in the hospital.

The hospital with the highest amount of patients on trolleys is University Hospital Limerick, with 54 patients waiting for a bed.

28 of those patients are in the Emergency Department, with 26 elsewhere in the hospital.

University Hospital Cork has 53 people waiting for a bed, with 50 of those in the Emergency Department.

Sligo University Hospital has 40 patients waiting for a bed, with 20 people in the Emergency Department.
