Hospital overcrowding: 292 patients waiting for beds

A total of 292 admitted patients are waiting for hospital beds this morning, according to today’s Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) Trolley Watch.

There are 233 patients waiting in emergency departments, while 59 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals.

There are two children on trolleys today.

The most overcrowded hospital is University Hospital Galway, where there are 31 people waiting for beds.

This is followed by St Vincent's University Hospital (30 patients), Tallaght University Hospital (29 patients), Sligo University Hospital (26 patients), and University Hospital Limerick (24 patients).

The hospital with the most people waiting for beds in the emergency department is St Vincent's University Hospital, where all 30 patients waiting for beds are in A&E.

This is followed by Tallaght University Hospital (23 patients), University Hospital Galway (21 patients), University Hospital Limerick and Sligo University Hospital (both 20 patients).

The two children waiting for hospital beds are in Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin.
