With a repeat of last year’s Premier Senior Football Championship final next weekend, we’re set to have the same top scorer once more, unless Ross Corkery can outscore Steven Sherlock by 11 points to take first place.

Sherlock currently stands top with 2-30 – not quite the 6-41 he managed last year – but nonetheless it’s been another solid campaign to date from the Barrs talisman.

Tied for second are Brian Hurley of Castlehaven and Nemo’s Ross Corkery with 0-26, though only the latter can mathematically catch Sherlock. Buttevant’s Mark Lenahan still sits in the top five after his contributions for Avondhu in the Divisions/Colleges section, and remarkably, he remains the Premier Senior top scorer from play.

Sherlock only needs two points to take first from Lenahan though, while Éanna Desmond climbed to third after his outstanding display for Carrigaline in the semi-final.

Kanturk’s Grantas Bucinskas remains well clear in the Senior A grade having amassed 4-25, with Éire Óg’s Daniel Goulding the closest challenger who will feature in the final, though with 12 points the difference, Bucinskas looks unlikely to be overtaken.

He remains top of the from-play table too, five ahead of Carbery Rangers’ Daragh Hayes, and further clear again of Cill na Martra’s Shane Ó Duinnín, who sits third.

Chris Óg Jones has regained top spot from Castletownbere’s Fintan Fenner – he had lost it when Uibh Laoire enjoyed the bye to the semi while the Beara outfit contested the relegation playoff – and Seán O’Sullivan is his closest contender that has the final to contest. O’Sullivan would need a 13-point swing on Jones to take top spot.

What’s even more impressive is that all but one of Chris Óg’s points have come from play this season. That of course means he’s the top-scorer from play too, comfortably clear of Fermoy’s Ben Twomey.
