Defending champions St Finbarr’s and Killeagh meet again tonight in the Cork ETB Premier 2 MHC replay.

Having ended level at the end of 60 minutes just over a week ago they face off tonight at Carrigtwohill, throw-in 7.30pm.

Tonight’s game will have a conclusion, even if it takes extra-time and penalties to have a winner.

If the drawn game is anything to go by the replay should be another top-class encounter between two sides with very little between them.

The last day out the Barrs had their Cork minor Liam O’Regan to thank after he scored an injury time goal to put one between them.

That gave them hope of at least getting a draw and with the last play of the tie Alex O’Herlihy got the equalising point to send it to a replay.

All through there was little between the sides as Killeagh lead by 0-10 to 0-7 at half time. With time running out they had managed to stretch that to four before the Barrs struck late.

Both teams had impressive performances and Killeagh will look to the likes of Cormac Deane, Ben Geary, Jay Geary and Cathal Brennan to see the trophy stay in East Cork.

For the champions they will know they were lucky to get another chance and will look to O’Regan, Charlie Kelleher, Cathal Herlihy and CJ Barrett to see the cup stay in their trophy cabinet.

It should be another close tie and would be no great surprise to see it go to extra-time this evening.

Meanwhile it did take extra-time to separate Midleton and Blackrock in the Cork ETB Premier 1 replay on Monday night at Dungourney.

The Magpies were pushed all the way by the Rockeis before they made it a championship and league double, winning by 4-17 to 1-23 at the end of the 80 minutes plus.

While it took a while to get going it grew in excitement during a second half where Blackrock battled to erode Midleton’s half-time lead before it built to a crescendo.

Michael Quill’s ninth point, in the 49th minute, had finally drawn the Rockies level and with two minutes of normal time left, they remained tied, 2-11 to 0-17, when Midleton made what looked to have been a match-wining move. Liam Walsh’s lovely pass to Senan Carroll allowed him to run at the Rockies defence before offloading to Shane O’Mahony for their third goal.

In injury time, though, a Blackrock free on halfway was brought forward for dissent – Quill went for broke and was rewarded as a fizzing low shot ended in the net. Things were to get even better as sub Adam Browne put them ahead for the first time since late in the first half but Midleton were afforded a late chance to level from a free, which O’Mahony converted to necessitate the additional 20 minutes. Come the end of the extra time the Magpies took the honours on a scoreline of 4-17 to 1-23.
