St Michael’s marked another landmark moment in its 75-year history recently when papers and contracts were formally signed in City Hall for the club’s long-planned 4G development at Páirc Mhichíl Naofa.
The signing represents the culmination of years of planning, negotiation and persistence, and signals a major step forward in the club’s long-term facilities strategy.
The event brought together several of the key figures who have driven the project from concept to reality.
In attendance were St Michael’s chairman Brendan Ryan, Cork City Council Director of Services John Stapleton, Adrian Cummins of Premier Pitches, Brendan Sheehan of BJS Consultants and Cork City Council Executive Engineer Mark Cotter.
Their presence underlined the level of cooperation required to deliver a development of this scale and the shared commitment to ensuring St Michael’s continues to evolve as a modern, ambitious club.
Among those acknowledged for their contribution, Brendan Sheehan was singled out for particular praise. His professionalism, attention to detail and determination were central to steering the project through its final stages.

The club also expressed its gratitude to Stephen Scully of Cork City Council, whose ongoing support has been instrumental, and to Cllr Des Cahill, a consistent advocate for St Michael’s throughout the process.
Work on the 4G development is expected to begin within the next few weeks, a milestone that will be warmly welcomed across the club. After years of planning, the future is finally ready to take shape on the ground at Páirc Mhichíl Naofa.
