Cork Youth League All-Ireland winning team honoured with a Lord Mayor's civic reception

The victorious Daly Industrial Supplies Cork Youth League inter-league squad, along with the league's officers were welcomed to City Hall by Lord Mayor Clr Fergal Dennehy recently.
The reception was to mark the winning of the provincial and national youth inter-league cups by the Cork Youth League.
The Lord Mayor Fergal Dennehy welcomed his visitors to City Hall Council Chamber where he praised them for their hard work and thanked them for bringing silverware back to this famous city.
He also thanked the coaches and the league management team for the time they give to promoting their sport.

The club coaches and parents in attendance were also thanked for their support of the league.
He then invited all to the Lord Mayor's Chambers where he gave a brief and interesting account of the history of the city.
For many, it was the first time they saw close up the many famous artifacts that are on display in the mayor's office.
He described how honoured he was to follow in the footsteps of Tomas MacCurtain and Terence McSweeney, whose pictures hang there in the office.
He described his recent trip to the mouth of the harbour to throw the dart to claim the rights of the harbour, as Admiral of the Harbour, in one in of his many duties.
The Chairman of the League, Sean O'Sullivan, thanked the Lord Mayor for his kind invitation and Sean went on to give a brief account of their victories, as they secured the cups for the second year in a row.
It was a team effort, and he thanked Daly Industrial Supplies for their generous sponsorship to kit out the players and their management team, all the clubs who had supplied players to the squad and the clubs that had made facilities available for training.

He also requested the Lord Mayor to use his office to encourage local authorities to make grounds available for sporting recreation and to help make sure that the needs of clubs are met going forward by the planning process.
Conor Murray, replying on behalf of the squad, said they were delighted to be recognised by the Lord Mayor and thanked all who had contributed to their success this season.
He was delighted to see that the players had made friendships from their time together in the squad and he wished them well as they will enter adult football.
This team were very well prepared and organised especially with the short time they had with the lads before their first game.
However, in time to come they will cherish their provincial and national medals, as it is always and should be a honour to represent your county, as they are the days that makes memories for life.

Conor also thanked the parents, club coaches, and the league management for giving him and his team the opportunity to lead such a talented and dedicated group of young men.
When the speeches were finished refreshments were served and were enjoyed by all present on the night.
