The longer evenings – and bank holiday weekend – mean that the midway point of the RedFM Hurling League is spread out over a six-day period.
Whereas the last two rounds of fixtures have seen Midleton in action early as they maintained a perfect start, this time they are down to play on Sunday morning, with the chasing pack given a chance to close the gap beforehand.
There are two games down for decision on Thursday night as Glen Rovers take on Carrigtwohill and Sarsfields welcome Blackrock.
Carrigtwohill are on three points after Seán Walsh scored 0-9 in their draw with Blackrock last time out, following on from the win over Fr O’Neill’s. Their opponents began the campaign with a victory away to Sars but have suffered three straight defeats since then, the most recent at home to Midleton two weeks ago.
Sars, the winners of the last three league titles, had won twice since the Glen loss before a home reversal against St Finbarr’s in a repeat of last year’s final. The county champions host a Blackrock side that sit in fourth place with five points, with Robbie Cotter, Ian O’Keeffe and Peter Linehan having impressed for them.

On Friday, Fr O’Neill’s – the only side yet to claim a point after four matches – host a Douglas side that will look to join Midleton on eight points. Shane Kingston has been in superb form for the city side when released by the Cork panel and that in turn has allowed Alan Cadogan to operate at midfield.
On Sunday, Midleton are at home to Midleton as they go in search of a fifth straight win. Conor Lehane has featured in two of their four outings so far, with Mikey Finn, Ross O’Regan and Tadhg O’Leary Hayes having been very consistent.
Charleville have won two and lost two to date, with David Forde scoring 1-2 in the loss to Douglas last time out.
Sunday’s other game sees St Finbarr’s at home to a Killeagh side that got off the mark with a good win in their East Cork derby away to Fr O’Neill’s. Ryan McCarthy got two goals in that game with John Ogbebor also netting.
They will find the Barrs a tough challenge though, with Paudie Murray’s team having picked up wins in three of their four games.
