A person has been taken to hospital following a collision near the Jack Lynch Tunnel, as gardaí advise that the southbound lane remains closed this lunchtime.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of the collision, which occurred near the tunnel earlier today.

While details of the number of vehicles involved are yet to be released, gardaí have confirmed that one person was taken to hospital as a result of the collision for treatment of injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening at this time.

Speaking to The Echo, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said that northbound traffic in the Jack Lynch Tunnel has since reopened. However, the southbound traffic lane is currently closed but is expected to open shortly.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and make alternative traffic arrangements,” the garda spokesperson said.
