In-form Cobh Ramblers aiming for revenge over Wexford this evening

Cobh Ramblers will try and stretch their unbeaten run to five games when they take on Wexford FC this evening at Ferrycarrig Park, kick-off 7:45pm.
Fran Rockett and his players will go into this tie fourth in the table, level on points with this evening’s hosts.
The Ramblers are also out to exert revenge on Wexford following their comprehensive 3-0 victory at St Colman’s Park on Opening Day.
The overall feeling in the group is that there’s a point to prove, something that Garry Buckley made sure to point out after last week’s stalemate with Longford Town.
“That game was the first game of the season and I don’t think we turned up,” he said.
“We probably owe them one in a way. They did a number on us in a way. We’ll dust the cobwebs off.
"We were a bit flat [against Longford Town]. The last three of four weeks, we have been going well.
"Hopefully we can go there and win the game.”
Rockett is excited, but his focus is on the ‘corner’ his team has turned after they went from recording just one win in seven games to their current unbeaten run of four that includes victories over Kerry, Treaty United, and Finn Harps as well as a draw with Longford Town.
“Wexford are flying at the minute and they are a good team,” he said.
“They try to play and they will try to impose their game on us, rightly so because they are a very good team with a very good coach.
"We’ll look forward to it and we will attack this week with positivity.
“Maybe at the start of the season we wouldn’t have been too sure we’ll come away from a game like that, but the experienced ones got us through.
"The Wexford is a good way to bounce back from as well, but we are really happy. We’re after turning that corner so we are looking forward to that Wexford game.”
Opening night haunted the group for a few weeks, after a positive preseason campaign that included a run to the quarter finals of the Munster Senior Cup.
Nothing landed that night, as an aggressive start ended with a quick counter attack and Ryan Richie hitting the back of the net in the 14th minute.
The home side continued to push, and things got harder before the break as Wexford were awarded a penalty.
Max Murphy converted and Jake Doyle secured the three points in the 48th minute.
Cobh have since rebounded but their position could change very quickly as just seven points separate UCD in second from Longford Town in seventh place.
The only undefeated team this year is Cork City, who have a comfortable eight point cushion at the top, and everyone else is scrapping for four play-off places that will be decided in late September.
Right now, is about jogging along and making sure you stay in the hunt as games come fast with the added bank holiday fixtures.
Wexford under former Ireland international Stephen Elliott have been one of the most consistent sides in the division this year, with their current record of four wins, three defeats, and four draws.
They faced Cork City last weekend at the Munster FA Turner’s Cross Stadium and lost 2-1, with Hans Mpongo netting a brace for the home side.
The defeat brought an end to a four match unbeaten run that included victories over Treaty United, Bray Wanderers, and Athlone Town.
There was also a stalemate with UCD in Belfield, as Elliott’s side moved up the table and looked to get a foot hold in the play-offs.
The Ramblers know what Wexford can do when they hit form, this goes back to the tail end of last season when Cobh’s title credentials ended with a defeat at Ferrycarrig Park in October.
2026 is a new group with a new goal under a new coach, and slowly things are coming together.
It’s very much one step at the time, and each one is bringing Rockett and his squad closer to their goal finishing near the top of the table.

App?
