Ballygarvan have secured the services of former Cork minor football manager Mick Evans to coach their side for the 2026 campaign.
He will also be the manager of the team.
The Carrigdhoun side have been the nearly men at the Junior A football grade over the last number of years and the hope with the enlisting of Evans is that they can take that extra step.
The team in red and white lost the county final in dramatic fashion to Inniscarra in 2024 and despite retaining their divisional title last year, they failed to make the required impression in the county section.

Former Bantry Blues star Stephen Moloney and ex-Éire Óg player Liam Sheehan were part of the management set-up in recent years. They departed after last season finished up.
It’s a major coup though for Ballygarvan to lure Evans to the club. He has a very impressive CV having been involved in coaching football teams on Leeside for a long period of time.
He guided Coláiste Chríost Rí to six Simcox Cup crowns and three Corn Uí Mhuirí titles. He was involved with the Douglas U21 footballers when they won the county in 2017 for the very first time in their history.
Evans led the Cork minor footballers to Munster glory in 2007 after beating Kerry in the final in Killarney.
He was also with Douglas’ senior football team helping them to three semi-final appearances and a quarter-final berth.
Ballygarvan will be favourites to make it four Carrigdhoun JAFC titles on the trot later this year.

Ballygarvan are backboned by Cork senior footballer Seán Brady. They are far from a one-man show though with Evan O’Connor, Ray O’Halloran and Paddy Ryan also some of the influential figures.
