Cork Camogie have announced the appointment of Jerry Wallace as Cork U23 manager for the 2026 season.

The decision was ratified at Wednesday's County Convention at Castle Road.

The Midleton native brings a wealth of experience to the role.

He has worked for multiple counties, age groups and levels in both hurling and camogie, having established himself in the mid-noughties with the last Cork team to land Liam MacCarthy.

He previously managed the Cork minor Camogie team from 2018 to 2023, guiding Cork to four All-Ireland titles and helping re-establish the county as a dominant force at underage level.

His inter-county experience also includes serving as senior manager of Waterford Camogie in 2024–2025, as well as earlier roles such as manager of the Antrim senior hurling team, trainer with both the Cork and Limerick senior hurlers, and Director of Limerick’s underage hurling academy, where he oversaw back-to-back Munster minor titles.

DELIVERED

At club level, he has delivered championship success in Kerry and led senior teams in Cork, Wexford and elsewhere. This breadth of coaching and leadership experience places Jerry among the most seasoned and versatile figures in Gaelic games.

Wallace is thrilled to be involved with Cork camogie again. The Rebels reached the All-Ireland final in the new grade this year but lost the decider to Galway.

"I am delighted and honoured to be back involved in Cork Camogie. I will be looking forward to working and participating with the officers of Cork Camogie, our senior manager Ger Manley and his management team, the club players who will represent Cork for 2026 at U23, the sponsors and of course the great families and supporters of Cork Camogie.

My vision for our Cork U23 squad is to assist in building a high-performing team through empowerment and support, creating a positive culture pathway for players to develop to senior.

"Competitively reaching both the Munster and All-Ireland finals will be our goal and with a wee bit of luck some silverware will follow.”

Cork Chairperson Padraig Treacy said: “We are delighted to welcome Jerry on board for the 2026 season.

"The U23 panel is an important development pathway for Cork Camogie, and we firmly believe that someone of Jerry’s calibre, experience, and leadership will bring real momentum to this group. His track record at inter-county level speaks for itself, and his commitment to player development aligns perfectly with the long-term vision of Cork Camogie.” He added:

“We received strong interest in this position, which once again highlights the strength and reputation of Cork Camogie and the appeal of working within our structures. It is encouraging to see so many high-quality coaches eager to be involved.

"We’re confident that Jerry’s appointment will help ensure a competitive and progressive U23 campaign next year.

"Cork Camogie wishes Jerry and his backroom team, who will be announced in the coming weeks, the very best of luck for the 2026."
