Leeds put on an excellent team performance when they beat Passage by four goals to two in a very entertaining Daly Industrial Supplies U17 Premier League game at Leeds Park last Saturday afternoon.

This was Leeds first win in the League this season and they are definitely in a false position in the table, as in this game they were superb all over the park and deserved to win this game, however, they would have won by a lot bigger margin only for the heroic’s by Passage 15 year-old keeper Daniel O’Mahony as he pulled off a string of magnificent saves for his side.

The home side led 2-1 at the halftime break courtesy of a brace of goals by Euan Weighton with Rhys Looney netting for Passage.

Leeds increased their lead 3-1 in the 65th minute when Adam Sienicki scored with a fine effort from the edge of the box.

Passage reduced their lead deficit 3-2 in the 75th minute against the run of the play through Harry Tett, however, Leeds put they game to bed in the 90th minute when Kaleb Mbouwoua-Alika scored with a powerful effort from the edge of the Passage box.

Leeds started the game on the front foot and had a decent chance to break the deadlock in the eighth minute when Aaron Crowley found a pocket of space inside the Passage box, but Daniel O’Mahony got down well to push his effort around the post.

O’Mahony was called into action again seven minutes later when he tipped Leeds captain Liam Waters powerful effort over the bar.

Leeds were rewarded for all their early pressure when they took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute, Crowley floated in a dangerous corner for Euan Weighton to head home.

Their lead didn’t last long as a minute later Lee Maher-O’Donovan put in a superb cross from Rhys Looney to poke home from close range.

The home side responded well and they went 2-1 in front in the 29th minute, Crowley again was the provider with a pin point free kick that found Weighton at the back post and he smashed his effort high into the roof of the net.

Some of the football that Leeds were playing was breathtaking at times and they came close to increasing their lead in the 40th minute, Cillian O’Callaghan showed great feet to beat his defender with ease, he laid off a perfectly weighted pass for Waters, however, his powerful effort was superbly saved by O’Mahony in the Passage goal.

Leeds started the second half strongly and came very close to adding a third goal two minutes from the restart, Weighton was first to react to a loose ball inside the Passage box, however, O’Mahony raced off his line to smother his effort.

On the other side of the pitch the visitors came extremely close to levelling the game in the 57th minute, Maher-O’Donovan raced on to a through ball from James Daly, but he couldn’t keep his effort down and it sailed over the bar.

The game was getting very open with both side’s getting stretched at the back and when Crowley saw sight of goal three minutes later he forced O’Mahony into another fine save.

Adam Sienicki thought he scored Leeds third goal in the 64th minute when his powerful effort was heading for the roof of the net, but O’Mahony pull off another brilliant save to tip his effort over the bar.

Sienicki didn’t have to wait long to score as a minute later he put Leeds 3-1 in front, Crowley played a superb through ball for him to run on to and he stroked home from the edge of the box.

Leeds were now well on top, however, they got caught on the break by the visitors in the 75th minute, Maher-O’Donovan got in behind the Leeds back four and pulled the ball back for Harry Tett to score from close range to make sure there was a nervous finish to the game for the hosts. However, with time running out Leeds sealed the game to win 4-2 when Kaleb Mbouwoua-Alika scored the goal of the game with an excellent finish from 25 yards.
