Cork will take on Limerick in the Munster Football Championship next spring and can't meet Kerry until the final.
John Cleary's side have been drawn in the quarter-final against the Treaty, who they are due to host, and with the winners of Tipp-Waterford in the semi. Kerry and Clare are on the other side of the draw.
The Munster Council rowed back this month on their decision to seed the top two on the basis of league positions, which would have put Kerry and Cork, as a Division 2 side, ahead of the rest. Instead, the ranking will be used for the 2027 draw.
Cork were unlucky not to eliminate Kerry in the Munster semi-final this year, which was decided in extra time and ended 3-21 to 1-25 in the Kingdom's favour after a cracking game that featured some fussy refereeing.
They haven't been crowned Munster champions since 2012, with their only victory over Kerry since then arriving in the Covid-delayed 2020 campaign when Mark Keane plundered a last-gasp injury-time goal. They were subsequently beaten at home to Tipp in the provincial decider.
Cork last met Tipp that season and Waterford in 2017, a narrow one-point win at Fraher Field. They're far more familiar with Limerick who made the Tailteann Cup final this year.
The Rebels' record this decade is four wins, three against Limerick, and six defeats in the provincial arena. A Cork-Kerry Munster final would be in Killarney.
Cork 1-12 Kerry 0-13 (aet);
Tipperary 0-17 Cork 0-14.
Cork 1-16 Limerick 0-11.
Kerry 4-22 Cork 1-9.
Kerry 0-23 Cork 0-11.
Clare 0-14 Cork 0-13.
Cork 3-13 Limerick 0-11;
Kerry 0-18 Cork 1-12.
Cork 0-24 Limerick 0-13;
Kerry 3-21 Cork 1-25 (aet).
4 wins, 6 losses.
