The Cork hurlers will head to Limerick on Wednesday, January 7 for the first Co-Op Superstores Munster Senior Hurling League game under new manager Ben O'Connor as pre-season competitions return following a two-year hiatus.

John Cleary's footballers will be in action the night before when they travel to face Tipperary in the McGrath Cup.

The action starts the weekend before, though Cork aren't in action in the opening round. In hurling the Rebels are drawn with Limerick and Clare, who they host on Monday, January 12, while the footballers' group has Tipp and Limerick, who are on Leeside on Sunday, January 11.

The Cork hurlers will also be playing UCC in the annual Canon O'Brien Cup fixture at the turn of the year.

The finals of the Senior Hurling League and McGrath Cup are slated for January 17.

The Allianz Leagues throw in the following weekend with SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh staging a double-header on the Sunday, when Cork meet Cavan in football and Waterford in hurling.

The footballers are chasing a return to Division 1 while the hurlers are defending the league crown they annexed last April for the first time since 1998. There's a high-profile All-Ireland hurling final rematch with Tipp on Saturday, February 7.
