Dripsey weigh in with comeback win over Council

Business League: Weigh Inn Dripsey who came from 3-1 down at halftime to defeat Co Council in the DHF First Division Match of the Week at the Regional Park.

A stunning second-half brace from a man-of-the-match Conor Twomey was the highlight of Dripsey’s comeback win over County Council in another enthralling Dennehy’s Health & Fitness First Division You Tube live offering at The Regional Park last Sunday morning.

After Emmanuel Mbodinma crossed for Rob Susek to fire the hosts in front in the eighth minute, Jamie Torpey equalized with a low shot into the bottom corner eight minutes later. 

Further goals from Susek, a bullet header, and former Cork Eagles’ favourite Greg Sienicki had Council 3-1 ahead at the break. 

However, the visitors got back in contention when Twomey glanced in a header for his first on the hour and Ciarán Pittorino levelled from close range on seventy-three. 

With the bit between their teeth, Dripsey’s Cormac Keane and Twomey added late goals to bring an end to a thrilling encounter. 

Referee Ken O’Driscoll played advantage to good effect on the sticky surface which contributed to the overall enjoyment of the game.

Abbey Business inflicted a shock defeat on leaders Sabor Brazil Giants with two goals in each half from John McLoughlin in the first and an own goal and another from the vastly experienced Francis O’Callaghan in the second.

James Corcoran’s ISF Ballyphehane Celtic got back to winning ways at Crosshaven on Sunday afternoon to go second with goals from Rob Lynam (3), , Mohamed Vangahun (2), Jamie Thompson and Paul Mealy, Dean Farrissey and Robbie Burke had earlier scored in each half for DCT who have yet to get to grips with the step up to a higher division after last season’s promotion.

Two teams hoping for a strong finish to the second half of the season met at James Kenneally Sports Centre last Saturday morning. 

After Tadgh Whelan put Hospitals one-up from a 10th minute penalty, two goals inside the 28th and 29TH minutes from Ian Leahy and Brian Kelly turned the contest in Arc’s favour. 

After Conor Ryan extended the lead in the 52nd minute, a remarkable comeback from the visitors yielded goals from Wymin Sivakumar (2) and Richard Bambury to seal the points.

Juan De Villa scored either side of half-time to put the in-form visitors two up before Ivan Zagorac reduced the deficit with twenty-one minutes still remaining. 

Sub Amine Benali restored Helio’s two goal lead six minutes later only for Tomás Sheehan to net a second for Harvey’s going into the final ten minutes. 

In a frantic finish Inter Cork , who have now gone six unbeaten, held on defensively to see out the tie.

Five second-half goals from top scorer Billy Tabb (3), Corey Harris and Niall Fitzgerald garnered all three points for the hosts in the Sunday morning contest at Mayfield Park.

OBS’s unrelenting charge towards the title continues to gather momentum after a 10th win in eleven strengthening their grip at the top. 

First-half goals from Rory Buckley, Sean Blake and Anthony O’Reilly were followed by two more from Blake and a sixth from the evergreen Arainn McGrath with two minutes remaining. 

Tadgh O’Sullivan had earlier pulled one back for the visitors in the 75th minute.

ePower 7

ePower completed the double over MSL to stay in the hunt for promotion. 

Josh Dempsey set up August player-of-the-month Daragh Bagnell Hartnett for the first after four minutes before adding his second later in the half. 

In between, Ryan Murray (2) and Ivan Vitali tagged on further goals. Vitali and Lachlan McRae completed the scoring in the second 45.

Marlboro Trust 5 

AL Ukraine 4

Marlboro remain on the coat tails of runaway leaders OBS after their best of nine goal win over AL Ukraine at Mayfield Community School last Sunday afrewrnoon. 

The visitors lead 3-2 through Olek Pinizhanin (2 )and Dmytro Bielan with Daniel Jaouhari on the mark twice for Trust. 

Three unanswered goals from Jaouhari, Daniel Del Blanco and Jamie Cole put Marlboro in driving seat and despite Pinizhanin completing his hat-tick in the 80th minute, Marlboro hung on for all three points.

Pfizer FC 4 

Fisherman’s Rest Valley Rangers 3

Pfizer FC put a halt to Valley’s recent run of good form with four goals inside the opening fifteen minutes from Darragh O’Halloran (2), Thomas Kelly and Timothy Healy in the late Sunday evening kick-off at Leeside. 

Valley’s response came by way of Stephe Carr, John Noonan and Ivan Ohrin, all goals incredibly being scored before the 25th minute of the opening half.
