Two goals from Dylan McGlade helped Cobh Ramblers defeat Treaty United 3-0 at St Colman’s Park on Friday night.

Barry Coffey was also on target, but there was no change to the league table as Mick McDermott’s side remain six points behind Dundalk following their victory over Bray Wanderers.

The Ramblers were only focused on bouncing back from last week’s frustrating draw with Kerry FC at Mounthawk Park.

Cobh went for it by fielding an attack minded team that often had McGlade playing alongside Cian Murphy with Barry Coffey in behind them in the pocket.

Treaty soaked up the pressure and created the first opening, and Lee Devitt’s strike was blocked down by Cian Coleman.

The Ramblers brushed off this incursion and created room for a Cian Murphy header that was easily dealt with by the visitors. Shane Griffin followed that up by winning his side a corner and McGlade flicked that wide with his right boot.

The winger made up for the miss with next touch of the ball by stabbing in a cross at the back post in the 14th minute.

Treaty’s response from a corner and Robbie Lynch saw his effort scrambled away by a swam of claret and blue jerseys on the penalty spot.

The Ramblers got into a similar position during their next advance and attempts by Coleman and Jonas Hakkinen in quick succession were swatted away after a McGlade corner.

Treaty then went through a prolonged period on possession that saw Patrick Ferry chipping the outside of the far post and Devitt narrowly missing a Joseph Hanson free-kick.

The Ramblers paid no heed to their Munster rivals growing confidence, and they finished the half with Coffey converting a penalty in the dying seconds after a foul on Rhys Gourdie.

The Scottish native kicked things off at the restart by crossing for McGlade to get the third goal in the 49th minute with a low strike that went well passed Matthew Boylan.

Devitt retaliated on the edge of the area, in bid to kick start something for Tommy Barrett’s side.

Coleman cooly took the ball down and this was the beginning of the end as Cobh went on to totally control proceedings in a way that was air tight.
