Sir Gino ridden by Nice de Boinville wins the BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle Racecourse.
Cork owners Joe and Marie Donnelly enjoyed a magical 15 minute period on Saturday afternoon with a notable double across the card Graded Double.
Anzadam, who won both hurdle outings in France last year, made a successful Irish debut in the Grade 3 WillowWarm Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
He was partnered by Paul Townend for Willie Mullins and completed a treble for the Lisgoold jockey and the master of Closutton.
The Donnelly silks were back in the winners enclosure at Newcastle in the day's featured race.
Sir Gino made a major statement with an impressive victory in the £115,000 Grade One BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle.
He is now 4/1 for the Champion Hurdle in March for which the Donnelly's also have the reigning Champion Hurdler State Man.
Sir Gino produced a spectacular performance to win the Grade One BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.
It added another string to the Donnelly's Champion Hurdle bow - allied to the reigning Champion State Man.
He finished second in last weekend's Morgiana Hurdle.
Sir Gino was deputising for his much vaunted stable companion Constitution Hill on Saturday afternoon.
He missed Saturday's race after suffering a setback.
He hadn't been overly impressive in a gallop at Newbury recently with Sir Gino.
Nicky Henderson's Seven Barrows yard had been in tremendous form coming into Saturday.
The unbeaten four-year-old had been earmarked to run in a novice chase at Kempton last Monday and was seen as an Arkle horse by connections.
However, he leaped into the Champion Hurdle picture at Newcastle stretching clear for an eighth length victory.
The normally reserved Nico de Boinville gave an emotive salute as the 6/5 joint favourite crossed the line in splendid isolation.
His market rival Mystical Power had a major blow out with Mark Walsh already hard at work at the fourth last.
Willie Mullins’ five year old eventually finished sixth of the seven runners - thirty three lengths off the winner.
Anzadam looks like another exciting French recruit for Joe and Marie Donnelly.
He attracted significant late market support into 5/2 for his Irish debut in the Grade 3 WillowWarm Hurdle at Fairyhouse.
He had won twice in France prior to joining the formidable Willie Mullins team.
Paul Townend exuded confidence and made his move approaching the last.
Despite a sloppy jump he quickened clear to beat 6/4 favourite Kala Conti by six and a half lengths.
In the process, Townend and Mullins completed a treble - having won earlier with Impaire Et Passe 2/13 and Ballygunner Castle 3/1.
The winner had been quite free in his French victories.
He sported a hood on Saturday and Townend got him into a beautiful rhythm.
He took an age to pull up afterwards and looks distinctly above average.
