Cork are to nominate Páirc Uí Rinn as their choice to host the All-Ireland SFC first round clash with Meath.
With the Rebels having secured a place in next Sunday’s Munster SFC final against Kerry, they were assured of home advantage for Monday’s draw to determine the first set of fixtures under the new system that is in place this year.
John Cleary’s side were paired with the Royals in a repeat of the Allianz FL Division 2 final which the Leinster side won and it appears that the championship meeting will be a repeat of the regular league fixture – both that and Cork’s win over Kildare were switched to Páirc Uí Rinn.
The games in the football first round take place on the weekend of May 23 and 24, but as the Cork hurlers are in action against Clare at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on the Sunday, a Saturday clash on the Boreenmanna Road looks certain.
Cork’s last championship outing at the county’s secondary venue was the impressive win over Donegal in the now-defunct round-robin section of the All-Ireland SFC in 2024.
