Boxer Tommy Hyde goes to 10-0 with another great victory in Boston

Cork boxer Tommy Hyde looked in incredible shape at the weigh-in before his fight with Aro Schwartz in Boston.

Tommy 'the Governor' Hyde’s bandwagon keeps on going forward and is gaining serious momentum after he stopped German fighter Aro Schwartz in the third round of their Super Middleweight bout at the Anside Event Centre in Boston in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Cork man Hyde, also made his debut on DAZN TV and he certainly didn’t disappoint. He remains undefeated with a record of ten straight victories, seven of them inside the distance.

The 25-year-old was initially due to fight England’s Adam Hepple, however, he withdrew just before he travelled to Boston and Schwartz was drafted in as a replacement.  Hepple was supposed to be a major step-up fight for Hyde, but southpaw Schwartz was the most experienced fighter he fought to date.

However, Tommy certainly passed what was meant to be his biggest challenge with relative ease, dropping and then stopping former German champion Schwartz to send his fans in Boston away happy. Tommy forced Schwartz to take a knee early in round two and then sent him crashing to the floor in third round with a punishing right hand to the head.

VARIETY

He got his jab in play right from the off and he wasn’t long about bringing out varied shots to the head and body of the German native in the opening round.

Hyde’s calm calculated approach to the fight continued into the second round, as he pushed Schwartz back to the ropes with some punishing shots to the head.

Then Hyde, started to mix things up and caught his opponent with some solid body shots that had him backtracking.

He continued to hurt Schwartz with one of his trademark hooks to the body and then an overhead powerful right hand to the head.

Schwartz eventually buckled under the pressure and took a knee, suggesting Hyde had the power to hurt him.

That proved to be the case early in the third and a short sharp stinging right hand to the head sent the German crashing to the floor, which he never recovered and the referee waved the fight over.

"I’m delighted with the performance, delighted with the knockout, and delighted with the support,” Hyde said. "I knew my opponent tonight had a lot of experience, so I wanted to break him down as quickly as I could and I thought I did that well on the night.

I knew that I hurt him in the second round so I came out for the third ready to get the job done as early as I could.

“Again, I want to thank all my supporters at home and here in Boston for all their kind messages before the fight as it just makes it even more special when I can put in a performance like that for them.

“I intend to stay busy in the ring and hopefully I will be out again before the end of the year, but right now I will enjoy this victory with my family and friends."
