Kinsale’s Darragh Crowley will return to Cork City next season after signing a new deal with the First Division champions.

The 24-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the club while operating in a number of different positions on the pitch, from full-back to striker.

This follows a lengthy comeback from a knee injury picked up last June during the club’s stint in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Speaking to City’s media team. Crowley said: “It’s good to get it done early. It’s the earliest I’ve had a contract done, so it’s good to know that I can get a good pre-season behind me.

"I’ll be working hard for the next few months ahead of the new season. There’s a lot of excitement around to club at the moment, so I’m looking forward to what’s to come.”

City boss Tim Clancy said: “Cork City supporters are very familiar with the sort of player that Darragh Crowley is, so we are all happy to get him tied down for 2025.

“Darragh worked very hard during his time out injured, and he has been great for us since coming back into the side.

"Although he is still a relatively young player, he has got a number of years of experience behind him at this point, so he understands what is required as we head back to the Premier Division next season.

“We’ve been hard at work over the last few weeks to get deals done, so we hope to have more news on the squad over the coming days.”

Crowley originally joined the club in 2018 and he started out playing in the U19 National League. He made his senior debut as a substitute during a 3-1 win over Midleton in the final of the 2019 Munster Senior Cup.

His first taste of Premier Division football was a draw with St Patrick’s Athletic at Turner’s Cross in April 2019.

After spending a year around the first team, Crowley was sent on loan to Cobh Ramblers during the 2020 season.

The forward became a fan favourite at St Colman’s Park as he helped the team push for a playoff spot, a quest that ended in heartbreak as Galway United pipped them to fifth spot on goal difference.

Crowley returned to City in 2021 and he helped the club win the First Division title by scoring two league goals in 2022.

The Kinsale native is one of a small group that has commit their long term future to Turner’s Cross and he joins strikers Ruairi Keating and Sean Maguire, and Sean Murray.

That trio all commit themselves to 2025 with deals that were signed in the middle of the club’s victorious campaign in the First Division.
