Neptune Basketball Club are thrilled to announce the appointment of Pat Price as the new head coach for the 2024/2025 Super League season.

Price brings a wealth of experience with previous stints at UCC Demons and Tralee Warriors in the Men’s Super League.

Last season he coached Fr Mathew’s in the Women’s Super League and led them to the Paudie O’Connor National Cup final where they lost to fellow Cork side Gurranabraher Credit Union Brunell.

NEW CHAPTER

The Neptune executive committee felt his proven track record of success made him the ideal choice to lead their club into an exciting new chapter.

Price has over 35 years of coaching experience and has been at the helm of several top-tier basketball programs, both in Ireland and internationally.

Speaking about the appointment club chairman Tom O’Sullivan welcomed Price for a second term having previously coached the club in 2015.

“We would like to welcome Pat Price back to our club and wish him the very best of luck in his new role.

“The role of Head coach at Super League level is demanding but we are confident his experience will be invaluable to our club.

“Pat’s strategic vision, combined with his ability to develop young talent and foster team cohesion has earned him a reputation as one of the most respected coaches in the sport,” he said.

The Neptune chairman is hoping that his club can get back among the silverware having only won two titles in 30 years at the top tier.

“Pat Price's extensive experience and commitment to excellence align perfectly with the values and ambitions of Neptune Basketball Club.

“We are confident that under his leadership, the team will reach new heights and continue to build on our rich history,” he added.

Pat expressed his enthusiasm about joining Neptune and is hoping the glory days can resurface for the Blackpool club.

I am honoured to have the opportunity to once again coach at this prestigious club.

“Neptune has a strong tradition and a passionate fan base, and I am excited to work with the talented players and dedicated staff to achieve our goals,” he said.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time for Neptune as the club targets success and to compete at the highest level for the upcoming season. Fans and supporters can look forward to an invigorating season with fresh strategies and dynamic play under Price's guidance.

Elsewhere in Cork, there is no change at UCC Demons with Danny O’Mahony continuing at the helm after last season guiding the club to the Pat Duffy National Cup title.

There is no conformation who will be head coach at Irish Guide Dogs Ballincollig for the new campaign.
