Caoimhin Kelleher should remain at Liverpool says former Ireland star Richard Dunne

FORMER Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne has told betideas.com that there is no reason for Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher to leave Liverpool this summer, citing the trophies he has won with the Merseyside club and adding he could have a “wonderful career” with the Reds.

“It's a really tough question because Kelleher is 25 years old and played less than 50 senior games,” he explained. 

“He always performs whenever he plays for both club and country and you’d think he should play more, but he’s won loads of trophies with Liverpool and is second in line at one of the best clubs in the world. 

"It’s easy for us to look in from the outside and say that he should leave, but when you’re playing with some of the best players in the world it’s not as easy as just moving on.

“Over time, I think he’ll get his fair share of games in the domestic cup competitions that he might be happy with it. 

"As long as he keeps his sharpness and it doesn’t take him two or three games to get up and running then I think he can have a wonderful career there. 

"If he really wants to move out and test himself then there will be plenty of clubs that want to sign him, but I wouldn’t be screaming for him to leave because I think he’s in a really good place at Liverpool.”

Kelleher will be in goal tonight at Anfield in the FA Cup as Liverpool host Southampton.
