Bweeng Celtic produced a five-star team performance which helped them run out convincing 5-1 winners over Rylane Celtic to qualify for the semi-final of the Saxone Cup at Rylane Community Park.

Aside from it being a big team performance, Bweeng had in Jack Singleton and Danial Casey two players that shone throughout the action – these two were pivotal in Bweeng’s victory on the day.

Bweeng Celtic piled on the pressure from the off and after Danial Casey’s effort outside the box was charged down by Tim Lehane, Casey gathered possession on the right before seeing his shot-cum-cross deceive everyone, including the Rylane keeper as it sailed all the way into the far corner to hand Bweeng the advantage after just three minutes.

A quick response from Rylane saw Sean Horgan attempt to get his early pass away to the available Matt Leary, but Jamie Butler was quickly off his line in time to smother the danger.

A chance at the other end fell for Bweeng, but from Donal Casey’s measured cross, Timmy Sheehan could not get his leg around the ball enough to trouble Peter O’Sullivan between the sticks for Rylane.

A slide-rule pass from Mike Crowley found Matt Leary in space, but Eric Fitzgerald performed his defensive duties when he showed enough sharpness to make an important intervention.

Bweeng threatened again when Danial Casey hooked his effort over from an accurate through ball from Timmy Sheehan.

And when Jack Singleton picked out Timmey Sheehan with a neat pass, Peter O’Sullivan had to get his body firmly behind a stinging effort from Sheehan.

Leon Wong almost found a way through on goal – only to be foiled by Podge Sisk following a decent intervention.

Bweeng were reduced to ten men after Liam Griffen received a straight red from referee Grahame Duffy in the 18th minute.

Despite that set-back, Bweeng came close when Danial Casey’s effort came off Tim Lehane before smacking off the upright and go out for a corner.

A half chance fell for Rylane minutes later when Matt Leary swivelled before turning to fire straight at Jamie Butler.

And when Dylan Kelleher collected from Sean Horgan, he failed to keep his effort on target from outside the box.

But after Rylane completed their good spell without reward, Bweeng’s Jack Singleton was unlucky to see his rasping effort from a free kick whistled agonisingly wide.

What a finish we saw then from Bweeng’s Alex Mass – he collected a precise ball into space from Danial Casey before drilling low and hard into the far post to score what really was the goal of the game on 34 minutes.

With just seconds to the break, a great chance fell for Rylane, but from Tabor Mora’s free kick, Matt Leary could not get a vital touch while unattended near goal.

The second half was just minutes in when Matt Leary was so unlucky to see his header come back off the upright before arriving into the arms of the waiting Jamie Butler, but at the other end, the woodwork came to Rylane’s rescue when Cathal O’Brien’s thumping effort from a free kick cannoned off the bar before going over.

This was followed by a headed effort from Eric Fitzgerald that went wide – following a free kick from Jack Singleton.

But on the hour, Bweeng extended their lead when Singleton’s free kick skidded off a defender before arriving for Domonic Bolstor who was in the right place to stab home Bweeng’s third.

Rylane did get one back when Dylan Kelleher squeezed past Butler on 67 minutes, but almost immediately afterwards, Bolstor was on hand once again to help home from close range, following Singleton’s corner on 70 minutes.

A fifth then followed from Conor McCarthy to wrap a convincing 5-1 victory for Bweeng.
