Met Éireann has said there will be a mix of scattered showers and sunny spells across Munster on Thursday.

The national forecaster said highest temperatures of 9C to 12C are expected, with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Cloudy conditions will continue throughout the afternoon, with scattered showers developing into tonight.

It will be mostly cloudy at first overnight, with some clear spells developing.

Mist and fog will also form in a light east to northeasterly wind.

Lowest temperatures are expected to range from 1C to 6C.

Traffic

Traffic remains light across Cork's major city routes, with reports of a road closure due to roadworks on the westbound N40 between junctions 5 and 2.

There are also reports that a pedestrian has been knocked down at Victoria Cross, with motorists urged to take care when approaching the area.

National outlook

Friday morning will see mist and fog gradually clear, with scattered showers and occasional sunny spells developing.

Highest temperatures of 9C to 12C are expected in a light northeasterly or variable wind.

Friday night will be mostly cloudy, with rain or drizzle for a time in northern areas and isolated showers elsewhere.

Widespread mist and fog will form in near-calm conditions, becoming dense in places.

Lowest temperatures of 1C to 7C are expected, with the coldest conditions in the south, where there will be more clear spells.

Saturday will also begin with widespread mist and fog, which will clear from most areas through the morning but may linger in some places as winds remain light.

Cloud and scattered showers will affect northern areas, but it will be drier elsewhere, with sunny spells developing through the day.

Highest temperatures of 7C to 11C are expected.

Most areas will be dry on Saturday night, although isolated showers will occur in parts of Ulster and Connacht.

It will be a foggy night, with light winds and lowest temperatures of 1C to 5C.

Calm but foggy conditions will continue on Sunday, with fog lingering in some areas into the afternoon.

It will be largely dry, with light easterly or variable winds and highest temperatures of 7C to 11C.

Sunday night will be dry, with fog setting in across much of the country again. However, a moderate to fresh easterly wind will develop in the southwest, where cloud will also build.

Lowest temperatures of 2C to 6C are expected.
