A 53-year-old man who pleaded guilty to carrying out a robbery at a credit union in Cork last August will be sentenced at Cork Circuit Criminal Court next week.

Richard Murphy of 5 Cherrytree Rd, Togher, Cork, appeared in court charged with robbery of €524 at the First South Credit Union on South Mall, Cork, on August 13, 2025.

He pleaded guilty to the robbery.

Defence barrister Elaine Audley previously asked for a probation report to be prepared on the accused man before sentencing.

“He was suffering from addiction at the time,” Ms Audley said. “He would also like to raise compensation.”

The barrister said the defence would present a report from the defendant’s GP at the sentencing hearing.

Judge Helen Boyle put sentencing back until November 11.
