Last week saw more than 3,700 students graduate from Munster Technological University (MTU) as part of its autumn 2026 conferring ceremonies across its campuses.

Graduates representing 105 nationalities were conferred, reflecting the diversity of MTU’s student community and its international reach.

In MTU’s Cork campus in Bishopstown, graduates came from fields including biomedical engineering, sustainable energy engineering, pharmaceutical biotechnology, AI and cybersecurity, as well as business, social care, and early childhood education.

The graduation ceremonies highlighted the different pathways available through education at MTU.

Among the qualifications being awarded was a Level 4 Special Purpose Certificate in Cultural Citizenship in Cork, alongside advanced postgraduate and research qualifications.

Years of hard work

Professor Maggie Cusack, president of MTU, said graduation marked the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and determination, and an exciting new chapter for graduates.

“We are celebrating people who have arrived here through different routes, studied various subjects, and who will take their skills into workplaces across Ireland and beyond,” she said.

“What they all share is a determination to succeed, in addition to the ability to think critically, to work with others, and to adapt to change.”

Professor Cusack said those traits would stand to the graduates wherever their careers took them in life.

“I congratulate all our 2026 graduates on their achievements and thank the families, friends, and staff who have supported them along the way,” she added.

MTU has six campuses across Cork and Kerry and caters for a student population of approximately 18,000. The university provides a wide range of programmes, from apprenticeships and undergraduate degrees to master’s degrees and PhDs.

The university plays a central role in supporting regional development while maintaining a growing national and international profile.

The class of 2026 now joins MTU’s alumni community of more than 115,000 former students, contributing across industry, research, public service, culture, and society in Ireland and internationally.
