Cork singer songwriter Claire Sands to perform at Live at St Luke’s

Clare Sands will perform at Live at St Luke's in Cork on November 20, singing songs from her new album, 'They Tried to Bury Us'.

Cork native Claire Sands will be back on familiar ground next month when she takes to the Live at St Luke’s stage for her first hometown show in more than four years.

The Belfast-based singer/songwriter, a sixth generation fiddle player, will perform a range of songs from her new album, They Tried to Bury Us, a collection of music which draws on traditional Irish roots, contemporary sounds and local influences.

The opening song and title track from the new album was inspired by the solidarity movement in Ireland, giving hope and strength during the darkest times.

The songs have a deep connection to Northern Ireland as the album was written across Ulster with an array of locally based musicians. Describing the album, Ms Sands said it is one that: “Rises from the earth against oppression and insists that love and hope will never be buried”.

Tickets for the Live at St Luke’s show on November 20, from eventbrite.ie, are priced at €28.91 (including booking fee).
