Music sessions from Barryscourt Castle on RTÉ2 this Thursday

The Office of Public Works (OPW) and Other Voices have announced that The Anam Sessions will return to RTÉ2 this month, with a historic Cork castle taking centre stage in one episode.

The first session, filmed at the newly refurbished Barryscourt Castle located near Carrigtwohill, features a solo performance by folk musician Joshua Burnside and will be broadcast on RTÉ Two television at 11.05pm this Thursday, September 10.

The Anam Sessions celebrate the connection between music, culture and heritage, with the show bringing contemporary Irish musicians and performers into some of the most scenic and historic spaces across Ireland.

Along with Barryscourt Castle, the 2026 series was also filmed at Emo Court House and Estate in Co Laois, the Chapel Royal at Dublin Castle and Áras an Uachtaráin in Dublin.

Minister of State with responsibility for the OPW, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, said that the Anam Sessions provide a great opportunity to showcase Ireland’s heritage.

“These performances bring our historic buildings and places to life, demonstrating that our heritage is not simply something to be preserved, but something that continues to inspire creativity, culture and connection.”
