Gardaí appeal for witnesses after man, 50s, dies in Cork collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Dunmanway earlier this week.

The incident, involving a motorbike and a van, occurred shortly after 2.30pm on the R587 near Gloun North in Dunmanway on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said no other injuries have been reported in relation to this incident.

The road remained closed for a period of time on Wednesday to facilitate a technical examination by forensic collision investigators, but has since reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users travelling in the area between 2.15pm and 3pm, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make it available to gardaí.
