Met Éireann issues new high temperature warning for Cork

Met Éireann has issued a second status yellow high temperature warning for Cork, with temperatures are set to exceed 27C on Leeside tomorrow.
The warning comes following an earlier announcement of a near countrywide status yellow high temperature warning from the national forecaster on Tuesday.
While the first warning took effect from 12pm yesterday, and will remain in place across all of Munster, Connacht, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, and Donegal until 6am tomorrow, a subsequent warning will then come into place from 12pm.
The second status yellow high temperature warning will impact the areas of Cork, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, and Offaly, as maximum temperatures are set to reach 27C in some areas.
Potential impacts as a result of the warning include Water safety issues due to increased use of lakes, beaches and waterways, heat stress, forest fires, and drought.
The warning will remain in place until 8pm tomorrow evening.
In Cork, daytime temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to high 20s today, with some parts of Munster reaching up to 29C, before dropping between 12C and 16C overnight.
Tomorrow will also see temperatures climb to the mid to high 20s as Met Éireann predicts it will be warmest in the south and east of the Munster region.
Some parts of Cork are predicted to reach between 25C and 27C before dropping between 14C and 16C overnight.
Further high temperatures are expected on Saturday, seeing some areas of Cork experience daytime highs of 24C, before dropping between 15C and 17C overnight.
A continuation of the warm conditions is expected on Sunday, as temperatures are predicted to climb between 17C and 23C across the county before dropping between 15C and 16C overnight.
