Met Éireann issues status yellow high temperature warning for Cork

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow high temperature warning for five counties including Cork, with highs in excess of 27C expected today.
The national forecaster issued the warning on Sunday, impacting the five counties of Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway and Mayo.
The warning will come into effect from 1pm on Monday and will remain in place until 7am on Wednesday.
Met Éireann is warning of maximum temperatures in excess of 27C combined with overnight minimum temperatures in excess of 15C.
Potential impacts include water safety issues due to increased use of lakes, beaches and waterways, uncomfortable sleeping conditions, heat stress, forest fires, and drought.
Temperatures are predicted to climb between 24C and 29C on Monday in Cork, with Met Éireann forecasting another hot, dry and sunny day with a moderate easterly breeze.
Monday night is expected to be dry and mostly clear, with lowest temperatures of 13C to 18C, being warmest in the south, with light to moderate east to northeast or variable breezes.

Temperatures are predicted to remain between 23C and 28C in Cork on Tuesday, being mostly dry throughout the day with a chance of an isolated shower in the afternoon as cloud increases.
It will remain dry and humid on Tuesday night, with a nighttime temperature of 17C expected, however cloudier conditions in the south and west - with the chance of a few showers developing – will see temperatures drop between 14C and 19C across Munster with light to moderate easterly breezes.
Wednesday is predicted to be another dry and sunny day, with a daytime high of 20C expected on Leeside, dropping to 18C overnight.
Warm conditions will continue into Thursday, with temperatures reaching 21C during the day across Cork and 18C overnight.
Met Éireann has said there is a chance of heavy showers and thunderstorms developing in the South and West on Wednesday afternoon, with light easterly breezes, becoming gusty near any showers.
Friday will further see prolonged spells of warm weather, with daytime highs between 19C and 23C across Cork, before dropping to 18C overnight.
