Cork city is set to be dry and cloudy today, with temperatures reaching 21C by late afternoon.

Light rain and slightly cooler temperatures are expected in the city tomorrow, before a weekend that is expected to be brighter but with more showers.

Traffic

Traffic across Cork is relatively quiet this morning, though a road closure at Ardfoyle Avenue and Crescent between Blackrock Road and Park Avenue from 7am to 7pm, is still in place, and will remain so until August 31.

Munster outlook

Across Munster, the weather is set to be mild this morning but rather dull and damp too, with some patchy rain.

While sunny spells will gradually break through, some well-scattered showers will occur, locally heavy and thundery later.

It will be humid with highest temperatures of 19 to 23 degrees, in mostly light east to southeast breezes.

Any lingering thundery showers will clear early tonight with mostly dry weather following. However, some areas of mist and fog will set in.

Munster will be mild and humid overnight with temperatures not falling below 12 to 16 degrees, in mostly light northeast or variable breezes, while towards morning, rain will begin to feed into southern fringes.

Thursday will start off dry in many areas.

Rain across southern fringes will slowly extend to eastern and southern counties, heavy at times with the chance of thunderstorms and the potential for surface flooding. Drier and warmer across north Munster.

Highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees with mostly light northeast or variable breezes are expected.
