A small screwdriver was allegedly used to stab a woman in the left arm when her ex-partner called to her home.
Judge Miriam Walsh remanded the accused man in custody until July 9 on the application of Sergeant John Dineen at Cork District Court.
The case was before an in-camera (private) hearing. The parties cannot be identified as they relate to an alleged breach of a safety order under the Domestic Violence Act, as well as the charge of assault causing harm.
The 49-year-old man was previously refused bail on the charges at Cork District Court. This week solicitor Frank Buttimer confirmed that the appeal of the bail refusal at the High Court was also refused. The case was put back until July 9 to allow time for directions to be obtained from the DPP.
The allegations in the case were previously set out in court. On April 8 at 10.20am, gardaí received a report of an alleged domestic incident, and attended and met with the complainant.
She alleged her ex-partner presented at her address demanding his bank card. She stated that she left her home to speak with him outside.
She alleged he produced a small screwdriver with a black handle and proceeded to stab her in her left arm. She sustained a cut to her arm, but did not require medical care. He was charged with assault causing harm and breach of the safety order.
