The Carrigaline International Maritime and Folk festival, which will run over the weekend of June 26-28, is gathering momentum with more than 70 acts playing outdoors, in the hotel and in all the pubs in the town over that weekend.
“Join us for a weekend of local and international songs and stories from a fantastic range of talented performers who regularly perform at various festivals in Ireland singing shanties and other sea songs and a wide range of folk songs from land and sea performances by over 76 singers and musicians from Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Poland, Britany, USA, Australia,” said a festival spokesperson.
Highlights will include ‘Songs From Land and Sea’, featuring an eclectic line-up of artists, at the Inkwell Theatre on Saturday night, with the festival drawing to a close with an evening in the company of influentual British folk singer Maddy Prior at the Carrigaline Court Hotel on Sunday evening.
Maddy is an English folk rock singer, best known as the lead vocalist of Steeleye Span.
She will be joined by guitarist Andrew “Spud” Sinclair, also a former member of the folk group, which was formed in the UK in the late 60s.
