24 Cork organisations shortlisted for Community and Voluntary Awards

Lord Mayor Fergal Dennehy has announced the 24 Cork organisations shortlisted for this years’ Lord Mayor’s Community and Voluntary Awards.

Members of the public were invited to nominate community and voluntary groups across Cork City in recognition for the vital contribution they make to local communities.

The broad list of nominees across six categories was then narrowed down by a panel fo expert judges.

Mr Dennehy said: “The standard of nominations this year was truly outstanding, making the selection process extremely challenging.

“The organisations shortlisted represent the very best of Cork City’s community and voluntary sector, showcasing the passion, generosity and commitment that make our city such a remarkable place to live.”

Community Development and Lifelong Learning:  

Foroige Mahon Rockies Youth Club Café

The Lantern, Nano Nagle Place.

Recreation, Sport, Health and Wellbeing:

Cork City Athletic Club

Glen Resource Centre

Cycling For All Cork 

Bádóireacht, Meitheal Mara's Youth Programme.

Social Inclusion, Advocacy and Integration award:

Down Syndrome Centre Cork

Ballyphehane Community Association

Boxing Clever Cork 

Social Enterprise Innovation:

Churchfield Community Trust Clg

Cork Deaf Enterprises

Awards will be presented to six category winners, along with one overall winner on the night of the awards ceremony, which will take place on Wednesday, June 10, in in the Concert Hall, City Hall. 

It will be streamed live on Cork City Council’s website and YouTube channel.
