Former Cork City manager Ger Nash remanded on bail after drink driving charge

Former Cork City soccer manager Ger Nash has been charged with drink driving and dangerous driving.

He was arrested at 2.55am on November 6, 2025, at the Lakeview Roundabout, Midleton by Garda Jerome Maher.

He was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with dangerous driving.

He resigned from managing Cork City following his arrest.

Judge Colm Roberts set a date for hearing on May 14 in Midleton District Court.

Defence solicitor Graham Hyde of Thomas Coughlan’s Solicitors, said he had received the statements in the case but formally requested a copy of the garda notebook from the incident.

Sgt O’Leary said that this would be shown to the solicitor on the day of the hearing as were the rules, before court commenced.

“Turn up early,” Judge Roberts said.

Mr Nash, 39, formerly of Fota Island, Cork, and now living in Sweden, was not present in court.

He was remanded on bail until May 14.

Mr Nash led Cork City to the FAI Cup final, although they were beaten 2-0 by league champions Shamrock Rovers.

His resignation came days before Christmas and just weeks ahead of the start of the First Division.

He had taken over as the club’s manager midway through the 2025 season after former manager Tim Clancy's resignation.

Cork City had been relegated and Mr Nash said his aim was to lead the club back to the Premier Division in 2026.

But just a couple of days before Christmas, Cork City FC posted on social media that Mr Nash had resigned with immediate effect for personal reasons.

"Cork City FC has been informed by men’s first team manager Ger Nash of his decision to step down from the role, with immediate effect," the statement said.

"The club would like to thank Ger for his efforts throughout the 2025 season. Ger Nash has indicated to the club that the decision was made for personal reasons.

"The search for a new manager will begin immediately."

Mr Nash also previously played for Ipswich Town.
