Danish furniture and interior décor retailer, JYSK, opened its fifth Cork location in Mahon Point Retail Park this week.

The international company, which now has 30 stores across Ireland, marked the occasion with a special grand opening event, which saw the first 30 customers treated to a €300 JYSK gift card.

The Mahon location now joins Ballincollig, Little Island, Youghal, and Blackpool in the retailer’s fleet of Cork stores.

Opening hours for the store over the Christmas period include 10am to 6pm, Monday to Wednesday; 10am to 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays; and 10am to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Santa at Marina Market

Members of the public are being reminded that Santa’s ‘Big Freeze’ event at the Marina Market will run for another five days.

The event, which is open to children of all ages, will take place at the facility on the Centre Park Rd each day from 1.30pm.

Children attending the event can post letters at the North Pole Outpost, and enjoy a Scandinavian inspired woodland as snow machines create a magical flurry overhead.

Children and their families will also visit Santa in his cosy log cabin, where the moment can be captured with professional photos, snow globes, keyrings, and keepsake prints.

Tickets are priced from €12 and are available for purchase here: https://tinyurl.com/wdxd4bb9.

Tickets on sale for Blackrock Panto

Tickets are on sale now for ‘Rapunzel: A Cork Christmas Untangled’, with members of the public across Mahon and Blackrock encouraged to attend.

Several performances will take place at the Scala Retreat Centre in Blackrock this weekend, including both matinees from 1pm and evening showings from 7pm.

The panto-style production features a range of young performers from across Cork, as well as members of the local Scala Musical Theatre Group.

Tickets are priced from €20 per person, or €50 for a family of four, including two adults and two children.

All proceeds raised will go towards SERVE’s Skills for Youth Resilience Programme, which helps young people in Zimbabwe and Mozambique gain vocational skills, access education, and build sustainable futures.
