A garda was injured during an incident involving a teenager on an e-scooter in Finglas, Co Dublin, on Wednesday.

In the Cappagh area of Finglas, gardaí stopped a youth in his mid-teens who was riding an e-scooter.

A quantity of cannabis was seized, and the youth was arrested and detained at Finglas Garda Station.

He was subsequently released, and a file will be prepared for consideration under the Youth Diversion Programme.

During the incident, a garda sustained a non-life-threatening injury.

He was brought in for assessment and is continuing to receive hospital treatment.

Gardaí say no additional information is available at this time.

The Garda Representative Association has condemned the incident, saying a student garda faces knee surgery.
