A two-month jail term was imposed on a 28-year-old woman who confessed to two counts of shoplifting in Cork city.

Judge Mary Dorgan imposed that sentence on Emma Wallace of Cork Simon Community.

On November 7 she was caught shoplifting at O’Hare’s Spar on Patrick Street and on the same day she stole items from Oxfam on French Church Street, Cork.

Frank Buttimer solicitor said at Cork District Court that the young woman, who appeared by video link from prison, was pleading guilty to the charges at the earliest opportunity.

Sergeant John Dineen said Ms Wallace had 62 previous convictions, mostly for thefts.
