Cork County Council Announces Eight Cost Rental Homes in Baile Adaim, Carrigtwohill.

Cork County Council has announced the launch of a new Cost Rental scheme, with nearly 10 new homes available.

The scheme, aimed at delivering affordable rented accommodation to people on middle incomes, who do not own a home, and are above the threshold for social housing, provides secure tenancy at a rent which is below the market rent in the local area and is also a long-term secure rental option.

The Local Authority has said that applications for the new two- and four-bed houses at Baile Adaim in Carrigtwohill will open at 12pm on November 27.

The development of eight newly built, A-rated, family homes consists of a mix of six two-bed mid-terraced houses and two four-bed semi-detached houses.

The rent for the development is set at approximately 26% below private market rents in the area.

The Mayor of the County of Cork, councillor Mary Linehan Foley said the development in Baile Adaim is “conveniently located in this popular residential area just a short distance from Carrigtwohill’s town centre and all its amenities”.

“This new scheme demonstrates the work that Cork County Council is doing in achieving the housing targets set by the government,” said Ms Linehan Foley.

Houses under the scheme will be allocated on a lottery basis to applicants who have submitted all the required documents, and who are deemed eligible for the scheme.

Successful applicants will then enter into a tenancy arrangement with Cork County Council.

Applications for the scheme will be accepted for a two-week period until 12pm on December 11 via the online application portal on Cork County Council’s website.
