Gardaí in Cork investigating city centre assault 

Investigations into an assault, which occurred in Cork city last night, are currently ongoing.

In a post shared on social media, a woman said she was walking in the South Terrace area on Wednesday evening when she was attacked by another woman who was looking to use her mobile phone.

In the social media post, the woman urged others who frequent the area to “take care walking at night”.

Speaking to The Echo, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said they have since received report of the assault, which occurred at approximately 7.45pm on George’s Quay.

The spokesperson said that while no injuries were reported as a result of the assault, “investigations are ongoing at this time”.
