'The town is reeling': Man whose body was found in Cork town named locally

A man whose body was discovered in Doneraile in the early hours of this morning has been named locally as Barry Daly.
The body of Mr Daly, who was in his 40s and is understood to be a local man with young children, was discovered in Rockview Terrace, Doneraile, Mallow, early this morning, as gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
Local Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea told : “This is a very tragic event that has happened in Doneraile.
"Doneraile is a quiet rural town and events like this are out of the norm. We are thinking of all involved today.”
Gardaí in Mallow are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man, aged in his 40s following the discovery of a body at Rockview Terrace, Doneraile, Mallow, Co Cork in the early hours of this morning.
"The Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Margot Bolster has been contacted to attend the scene where the body of the deceased remains at this time," a garda statement said.
"A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the investigation and an incident room has been established at Mallow Garda Station. A family liaison officer (FLO) has also been assigned to provide support to the family.
"The Garda Technical Bureau has been requested to attend the scene."
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
They are seeking any available camera footage, including dashcam recordings, from those who were in the vicinity of Doneraile village, Mallow, Co Cork this morning from 12 midnight to 2am Sunday October 12, 2025.
