More than €20,000 has been raised for four Cork charities at the annual Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball.

The proceeds from the annual black-tie charity ball, which took place at Vienna Woods Hotel in June, were presented to the four charities at a special cheque reception at Cork City Hall on Wednesday.

The event, themed ‘Second Time Around’, highlighted the values of sustainability and community spirit, with guests encouraged to wear vintage or pre-loved attire in support of environmental awareness.

The evening of the ball featured a drinks reception, a four-course meal, live entertainment, and a raffle with prizes donated by Cork’s business community.

The MC on the night, Colm O’Regan, kept spirits high, contributing to an atmosphere of celebration and goodwill.

As a result of the ball, a total of €22,000 was raised, with €5,500 donated to each of the four selected charities.

The four awardees include the Shine Centre for Autism; the Alzheimer’s Association of Ireland; the Cork Simon Community; and Deaf Enterprises.

Representatives from each charity were welcomed at the cheque presentation event by former lord mayor of Cork, cllr Dan Boyle.

The presentation event marked a moment of celebration and gratitude, recognising the generosity of attendees and sponsors who contributed to the fundraising efforts.

Mr Boyle said:

“It was a privilege to host this year’s charity ball and to see the community come together in support of these four outstanding organisations”.

“The funds raised will make a meaningful impact, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success.”

“The cheque presentation is a proud moment for us all.”

Details relating to next year’s annual charity ball are yet to be announced.
