Gardaí are at the scene.

Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal road traffic incident at the junction of Albert Rd and Albert St in Cork city this evening, and emergency services attended the scene earlier.

Road closures and local diversions are in place, and traffic is reported to be extremely heavy.

A spokesperson for the Garda Press Office said:

"Gardaí continue to attend the scene of a serious road traffic collision at the junction of Albert Street and Albert Road in Cork city that occurred at approximately 6:25pm this evening, Thursday 18th September 2025."

They added that Albert Street is closed between Albert Quay and the South Link Road and diversions are in place. The road is expected to remain closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators tomorrow.

"No further information is available at this time," they said.
