Cobh Tourism Committee under the Community Tourism Initiative Category, is one of the five Community Groups in County Cork nominated for IPB Pride of Place Awards 2025

Five community groups in Cork county have been nominated for the IPB Pride of Place Awards 2025.

The nominated groups include Cobh Tourism Committee under the community tourism initiative category; Mourneabbey Community Council under the population category 1000-2000; Tracton Biodiversity Group under climate action and biodiversity; Kinsale Community Youth Café under community youth initiative; and The Mizen Committee under inclusive Communities.

The Pride of Place awards were established to promote and celebrate the best in community development.

The awards are open to all local community groups, but entries are by way of local authority only. In consultation with its elected members, Cork County Council nominated five community groups for the IPB Pride of Place Awards.

The judging panel will be in Cork from September 10-12 to assess the community projects.

Remarkable

The Mayor of the County of Cork Mary Linehan Foley said the nominations are remarkable achievements for these communities.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their outstanding contribution within their local communities and the positive impact this has had on the wider community.

“I wish them the very best of luck in the IPB Pride of Place judging 2025.”

This year marks the 23rd anniversary of the competition which is run on an all-island basis, in conjunction with local authorities in the North and the Republic.

Since the competition commenced, it has impacted hundreds of thousands of people, all of whom are proud of their place.

The awards recognise the selfless efforts of people in making their neighbourhoods better places to live, work, and socialise.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Limerick in November.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: “Cork County Council would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone on their wonderful achievements and valued contributions to their communities and to wish all the nominated groups the very best of luck in the competition.”
