The body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital.

Gardaí have confirmed that a body was found at sea off the coast of Waterford yesterday morning.

In a statement the Garda Press Office said that the body was detected by fishermen shortly after 9am yesterday. 

“The deceased individual was recovered by a fishing trawler approximately twenty miles off the coast of Waterford and brought ashore at Ballycotton, Co Cork.

"The Coroner has been notified, and the body has been transferred to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. The results of the examination will determine the course of the Garda investigation.” 

It is understood that the deceased individual has yet to be identified with efforts underway to determine the name of the person.
